Aka: Why I Have Stopped Liking Lolita Fashion

oh man, i see what you mean—i’ve never been much of a lolita obsessor or whatever you’d call it, but i’ve always sorta-kinda liked it. i like the style enough, but some of these brands are ridiculous. i’m not a fan of the cheap materials or the repeated styles that you pointed out. i have to wonder why there’s so much of it. :|

I agree, the general concept, and the silhouette of lolita are just…oh gosh, wonderful.  It’s a little like vintage, but with its own personal spin.  I think I might just have a problem with Sweet Loli trends, which seems to be where most of egl is going.
I think Angelic Pretty (and Metamorphose, and Bodyline, and a few other “not burando” brands) is just trying to capitalize on people who want to be in fashion.  Being a big brand isn’t necessarily about creativity, it’s about recreating an already popular trend so you’re sure to make money off of it.
Maybe Lolita trends just move more slowly than typical fashion trends?
